Pinckney Annual Picnic

THIS SATURDAY!!!

June 1st, 11 am – 1 pm Clinton Park

Free neighborhood-wide gathering!   Fun activities for all ages! Donations for the Pinckney Elementary Food Pantry are encouraged!

Please join your friends and neighbors on Saturday, June 1 in Clinton Park for the annual Pinckney Neighborhood Potluck Picnic!

WONDERFUL FOOD

We Provide: Hot dogs, Veggie Dogs, Soda, Water, Plates, Cups, Napkins, etc.

You Bring: It’s a Potluck! Bring a Side Dish, Dessert or Munchies

OUR BENEFICIARY CHARITY THIS YEAR IS THE PINCKNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOOD PANTRY

Pinckney families could use: soap, shampoo, noodles, sauce, paper products—(toilet paper and paper towels), peanut butter, healthy cereal, granola bars.

GREET YOUR NEIGHBORS – BUILD COMMUNITY TIES

The annual potluck picnic is a wonderful time to meet Pinckney residents from all corners of the neighborhood. Be sure to remind and invite your friends and neighbors. Bring a lawn chair and take time to relax and visit.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need a little help to make the picnic a success. Can you help with face painting, kids craft table, bounce house supervision? We have the supplies – we just need you!

• Changing our Neighborhood Name

  Our neighborhood name of “Pinckney” was recently changed to “Pinkney.” This change occurred because Pinckney with a ‘c’ was associated with Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, a Revolutionary War general who signed the Constitution and who also was a slaveholder who believed slavery was fundamental to the American way of life (he owned a large plantation in South Carolina). Given this problematic history, neighborhood residents voted to change our neighborhood name. To learn more about the year-long process, go to our dedicated webpage. The final round of voting ultimately landed on the name of “Pinkney” in honor of William Pinkney, who gave a famous anti-slavery speech in 1789.
